A Broadband Doherty Power Amplifier for Sub-6GHz 5G Applications

This paper presents a novel and accurate procedure for designing Doherty power amplifier (DPA) wireless systems. The method is based on systematic approach to the matching networks of both Main Auxiliary devices, which employs an optimization process set their input impedance in corresponding optimal regions obtained from standard load- source-pull simulations. To import optimum each device into algorithm, mathematical expressions are derived graphically reported Smith chart. Besides this, we have developed account loading effect one at back-off when PA. As proof concept, symmetric DPA designed, fabricated, tested. measurements showed working frequency band 3.3 – 3.9 GHz (aimed n78 5G-NR), minimum peak output 36W, drain efficiency between 48%– 53.2% 34.6%– 44.5% 6 dB back-off.
